Why should the next Derrick Rose, for example, toil for free for Cal at UK if he can make a quick couple of million in Italy, set up his family for life, and then take seriously rich for life? I don&amp;#39;t doubt that GMs make better decis...</title><content type='html'>BB, &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I don&amp;#39;t doubt that GMs make better decisions with more information. But I don&amp;#39;t understand why the NBA as a whole cares. The good GMs will draft fewer busts, the bad GMs will draft more. But there will always be winners and losers in the NBA. It&amp;#39;s not like every team can be a playoff team. It is also having drafted players able to contribute right away rather than sitting on the bench.  That better carries the draft hype through to the season.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also, GM&amp;#39;s like it because they are better able to evaluate players.
