I appreciate an opportunity to see who they have and where their strengths and weaknesses may be. Good insight on Talor Battle. Freshman-to-sophomore "progress" tends to come in spurts -- 7 to 12 point improvements in a player's eFG are pretty common. The key is whether Battle was "fundamentally sound", but just missing his shot, or whether he had a larger role (and didn't play particularly well...) because there was no one else on the squad capable of stepping up. Andy Ott is a mid-year transfer from Villanova. He is a decent rebounder with a mix of offensive moves that run from back-to-the-basket back downs to stepping out to the perimeter to launch a 3. Ott, originally recruited by both Purdue and Villanova, redshirted his freshman year and realized half way through last season, that his opportunities for minutes would be extremely limited if he stayed on the Mainline. Hence his transfer to Happy Valley. Ott is not a space eater, but rather a more mobile #4-type bf. He may able to help the height-challenged Nit's against taller teams, but he will most likely not be an impact player on offense.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;A very enjoyable read -- I will be sure to check back to see how you guys are doing. Best of luck.</content><link rel='edit' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3773624391903304966/5883275785349062451/comments/default/6030772116960016888'/><link rel='self' type='application/atom+xml' href='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3773624391903304966/5883275785349062451/comments/default/6030772116960016888'/><link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://www.bigtengeeks.com/2008/09/2008-09-preview-penn-state.html?showComment=1221665220000#c6030772116960016888' title=''/><author><name>greyCat</name><uri>http://www.blogger.com/profile/08205379240405158462</uri><email>noreply@blogger.com</email><gd:image xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' rel='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#thumbnail' width='16' height='16' src='http://img2.blogblog.com/img/b16-rounded.gif'/></author><thr:in-reply-to xmlns:thr='http://purl.org/syndication/thread/1.0' href='http://www.bigtengeeks.com/2008/09/2008-09-preview-penn-state.html' ref='tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3773624391903304966.post-5883275785349062451' source='http://www.blogger.com/feeds/3773624391903304966/posts/default/5883275785349062451' type='text/html'/><gd:extendedProperty xmlns:gd='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005' name='blogger.itemClass' value='pid-195754735'/></entry></feed>
